The consultancy was carried out as part of a the reuse project of one of the buildings constructed at the end of the nineteenth century, as the new urban backdrop created with the opening of Via Dante in the city centre of Milan. Specifically, the request concerned the investigation of those aspects useful for the structural diagnosis and subsequent consolidation design choices. We therefore proceeded with the study of the construction features and of the building history.
The research on archive sources was accompanied by a direct reading of the building, with particular attention to the materials and construction techniques. It is an important example of the use of cast iron structural elements, alongside the more traditional brick walls.
