PROJECT DOCUMENT
Inquiry for the assessment of the cultural interest

The study aimed at verifying the cultural interest of the building complex, owned by the A.S.P. “Golgi-Redaelli” of Milan. The vast complex, largely no longer in use, originates from the reform and expansion, designed by Leopoldo Pollack, of the ancient monastery of Santa Chiara, subsequently expanded in different phases.

The long acquaintance with the places has led to the precise description of their features and conditions, according to a codified sequence of entries, in order to facilitate the reading and cross-checking of the data. The interweaving between the direct reading of the building and the evidence emerging from the research on the rich archival sources has made it possible to “perimeter” the construction phases, and therefore to identify the relationships between the different parts of the building complex, relating them to the traces we can now identify on the structural, construction and material levels. At the same time, the reconstruction of the ways of use of each place through time has offered a deeper and more intimate perspective on the knowledge of the Pia Casa, linking its current consistency to the lives spent within it.

In addition to the report, the contents were provided through graphic works, including synoptic tables, which allow a more immediate reading of the data.
